The ministry offered by Christian Ambassadors is correspondence based,
spiritual growth, to persons who are imprisoned. While this ministry is
primarily directed to those who are incarcerated for longer sentences in state
or federal prisons, it is extended to any person who is imprisoned, who desires
to seek spiritual growth through personal correspondence, printed spiritual
growth lessons, and “My Brother’s Keeper” newsletters.
We all need spiritual growth. It is God’s desire that all persons become
spiritually alive in Christ Jesus. Jesus came into the world so that through
Him we might have life, and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). To do so, we
need to accept Him as our personal savior, and learn from him how to live life
in a manner that is pleasing to God.
Spiritual growth is defined as: coming to a better understanding of our
relationship with God, learning what God desires for us, and applying those
lessons to our daily life. God has given each of us the agency to choose whom
we will follow, Himself or Satan. He is not controlling your life like a puppet
on a string, and your life has not been pre-ordained so that you have no
choices of your own (John 3:16-21). Though God has the power to control every
choice we make, He has chosen not to. He has chosen to take the risk, and allow
us to come unto Him freely on our own. The path is narrow (and righteous), and
few there will be that find it (Matthew 7:14). If we desire to find and follow
the path of Christ’s gospel, we must seek Christ with all of our heart
(Jeremiah 29:13-14).
We at CA do not have all the answers; but Jesus does. We are willing to work
with prison inmates, as brothers and sisters in Christ, to study God’s Word, to
seek His Holy Spirit, and to offer the strength of unity (Matthew 18:20, John
17:20-23) to understand God’s will. A person may not get out of prison any
sooner because of spiritual growth, and their life will not suddenly become
free of troubles. But, they have God’s assurance that He will be there with
them every day, giving them His peace and assurance that they are on the right
path. Prison inmates can know the joy of being a child of God, of being loved
by God. They can know the peace that passes all understanding; the peace the
world does not know.
We provide personal spiritual growth counsel through correspondence with
inmates who have a sincere desire to develop a personal relationship with
Jesus Christ. If an inmate has specific concerns about their relationship with
the Lord, they are invited to write to us with their concerns. CA supports the
movement of Christ’s spirit in all Christian ministries, so we will not engage
in debate over theological or denominational differences. But we will take an inmate’s sincere spiritual
growth concern to the Lord in prayer and respond. Sometimes, just exchanging a few letters is all that is
needed to get an inmate back on track with the Lord.
We are not a pen pal program, or a Christian dating service, so please don’t
expect those things from this program. We also cannot provide legal counsel or
financial assistance. Your support in keeping this ministry focused on the
spiritual will be greatly appreciated.
